MISSISSIPPI CULTURAL CROSSROADS
The fourth exhibit highlights the creativity of children. Under the tutelage of master quilters, children of Claiborne County, Mississippi, participated in the quilt-making process using their own conceptions to create charming and colorful quilt tops, which were quilted by the adults. Techniques include piecing, appliqué, embroidery, batik, fabric and finger painting.
Labels and text panels are included. The quilts are ready to hang on rods provided. Hanging brackets are the responsibility of the exhibitor. The poles are numbered to match the appropriate quilt. Identification cards are packed with each quilt; please return quilt to correct bag for shipping.
Note: Please report any damage to quilts or text labels immediately: 601-437-8905 or write Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, 507 Market St. Part Gibson, MS 39150.
MISSISSIPPI CULTURAL CROSSROADS, a non-profit community arts organization, offers four traveling exhibits of quilts. The exhibits are partially funded by the Mississippi Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. For reservations or additional information, please call Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, 601-437-8905.
The exhibits are available to educational and cultural institutions and other well-established organizations in the state of Mississippi free of charge. Booking periods are normally six weeks, providing time for installing, dismantling and sending the exhibit to the next booking or returning it to Port Gibson.
If scheduling and space permit, a single exhibitor may reserve one to four exhibits simultaneously. After an exhibit is scheduled, a contract will be sent to the borrower for confirmation. It must be signed and returned immediately to hold the reservation.
The borrowing exhibitor is responsible for the transportation of the exhibit from the previous exhibitor or from Port Gibson if applicable and back to Port Gibson if it is not booked elsewhere.
The exhibits are available to institutions out-of-state for a cost of $1000. The borrowing institution arranges and pays for shipping costs both ways and provides insurance coverage. Please call 601-437-8905 for insurance valuation.
A press release and photograph will be provided. All public information concerning the exhibit should include the statement:
