the following categories for 1999:
Best Blues Entertainer of the
Year
Best Blues album/CD "Golddigger"
The 19th Annual Chicago Music
Awards presentation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2000, 800 P.M.,
at the Oriental Theatre/Ford Center For The Performing Arts at 24 West
Randolph, Chicago, Illinois. Tickets ($20-40) are available at

2000 W.C. Handy Awards:
The Blues Foundation today
announced the nominees for the 21st Annual W.C. Handy Blues Awards, the
highest honor bestowed upon artists in the Blues industry. Ronnie Baker
Brooks has been nominated in the "Best New Blues Artist"
category. His father, legendary Chicago Blues guitarist Lonnie Brooks, has
also received two nominations in the "Contemporary Blues Album of the
Year" and "Blues Album of the Year" categories.
The W. C. Handy Awards will
be presented on Thursday May 25, 2000 at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis,
Tennessee, and will be followed by a two-day Blues Festival on Beale
