Troop 40 at Summer Camp at Camp Crooked Creek
June 17-23, 2007
Sunday: On Sunday, we arrived and were told what would happen during the week. Then, we went to the lake to take the swim test, and almost everyone made Swimmer. After that, we went to the Dining Hall, and were given a map of the area. Then, we went back to camp to pick tents and set up camp. After that we hung out until dinner. After dinner, we went back to camp to play cards, take showers, light lanterns, and fill out blue cards. A blue card is a card you have to fill out in order to do and earn the merit badge. Then, we went to the amphitheatre to see a show put on by the staff to welcome us to camp. When that was over, we went back to camp and went to bed.
Monday: On Monday, we woke up and got ready for breakfast and the rest of the day. After breakfast, we went to our classes. Some of the classes we had were First Aid, Forestry, Environmental Science, Swimming, and Camping. In the middle of the day, we stopped to have lunch. After lunch, we continued with our classes until they were over. After our classes ended we could free swim in the lake, take showers, play cards or do homework until dinner. After dinner, we went to bed. In the middle of the night, a raccoon came into our campsite, stole a bag of peanuts, and ripped them open.
Tuesday: On Tuesday, we woke up and got ready for breakfast and the rest of the day. After breakfast, we went to our classes. In the middle of the day, we stopped to have lunch. After lunch, we continued with our classes until they were over. When our classes ended, we hung out until dinner. After dinner, we played cards, took showers, and did homework until Vespers. At Vespers, a priest came and we prayed and we talked about being scouts. After Vespers, we went to bed.
Wednesday: On Wednesday, we woke up and got ready for breakfast and the rest of the day. After breakfast, we went our classes. In the middle of the day we stopped to have lunch. A little while after lunch, Mr. Read broke his leg. After lunch, we continued with our classes until they were over. When our classes ended we could free swim, take showers, do homework, or play cards until dinner. After dinner we hung out until the basketball tournament. At the tournament, we won a lot of games and played really well, but then we lost to Troop 42. After the basketball tournament, we went back to camp and went to bed.
Thursday: On Thursday, we woke up and got ready for breakfast and the rest of the day. After breakfast, we went to our classes. In the middle of the day, we stopped to have lunch. After lunch, we continued with our classes until they were over. When our classes were over we could free swim, take showers, do homework, or play cards until dinner. After dinner, we could hang out at camp or watch the staff play against the scoutmasters in a softball game. Later that night our troop had a campfire and we told jokes at it. After the campfire, we went to bed.
Friday: On Friday, we woke up and got ready for breakfast and the rest of the day. After breakfast we went to our classes. In the middle of the day, we stopped to have lunch. After lunch, we continued with our classes until they were over. When our classes were over, we could free swim, take showers, do homework, or play cards until our parents brought us dinner. After we ate dinner, we went to the amphitheatre to see a show put on by the staff to say goodbye to us. When the show was over, we went back to camp and went to bed.
Saturday: On Saturday, we woke up, had breakfast, packed up, and left.
