Nolin Writeup
Friday:
After we loaded up all our gear at the church, we left and headed for lake
Nolin. Before arriving all the way there we stopped at a local convience store
and my dad and I experienced some of the greatest BBQ ever, it was amazing. We
arrived at Nolin, unpacked, set up our tents and gear and everything. Nick,
David S., and I preceded to go get lanterns and in the process taught the
younger scouts how to get one lit. Finally some of the scouts decided to have a
pinecone war, which was kind of funny.
Saturday:
The venture crew was the last to wake up I believe. Younger scouts learned to
motor boat and sail. The middle group went out tubing first and the venture
went water skiing and knee boarding. At lunch we discovered that some sort of
animal had gotten into two of our loaves of bread, which is weird because our
box was still closed.
Following
lunch we went out on the tubing boat and Shawn and I dominated the opposition.
Later at the campfire we heard a lot of bad jokes and a scarce few good ones
most of the good ones provided by the venture crew. And finally to top all of
it off, we heard the best story ever told. Chief Falling Rocks told by Norm
Burton, master storyteller, maybe he should write a book about it. But anyways
I think all the kids had fun with that.
Sunday:
We woke up, tore down tents, and ate our breakfast. A few people went out on
the boats again tubing and what not. I learned how to sail which I had never
done before which was pretty fun. After everyone got back from what they were
doing we made sure everything was cleaned up and we headed home. Overall, I
think everyone had a great time and it was a successful trip.
