Horine
On
December 2, 2005 Troop 40 planned to go backpacking at Big South Fork, but that
was cancelled because of potentially bad weather. Instead, we went to Jefferson
Memorial Forest and camped at the Horine site #3. We
arrived late Friday night and hung out by the fire. The next morning we all got
the disappointing news of the Football State Championship Game, St. Xavier lost
to Trinity. We then walked around and collected any leftover wood from the
other sites, loading it into Mr. Hardesty’s truck to make good use of at camp
(making chairs). Then we had a fire building contest.
Later it began to rain
but we decided stay anyway. That night the restless scouts had a night hike and
that was pretty cool. After that Kendall Dillard was drying out his thermal
rest by the fire. It melted and he burned four if his fingers. He left for the
Emergency Room at about 1:00 A.M. and they got back at about 7:00 A.M.
Over all it was a good
camping trip for most of us.
