The story of the two Murdock brothers, John and Jeremiah, dates back to 1714 when Jeremiah is gifted a Deed to land from John, in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Maj. Jeremiah Murdock settles in Virginia. Capt. John Murdock settles in Prince George’s County Maryland. The brothers were Military Officers of the Intercolonial Wars 1689-1763. The Murdock brothers were styled as Merchants. The two men were titled as Esquires, Military Officers, High Sheriffs, very well known people. Later in 1726, Jeremiah is listed as passenger on a ship as a native of Virginia. It is believed that the Murdocks were from Coventry, England. A Tombstone at St. Sepulchre: John Murdock Merchant Taylor, Ob. Aug. 1684, of parish; buried there 1684 and Mrs. Barbara Murdock, his wife, 1698. Also interred there are several sons and daughters. Jeremiah’s grandson William Murdock moved from Virginia to Burlington, Boone County, Kentucky. On his Tombstone it was stated Wm. Murdock native of Virginia who died Oct. 27th 1835.
