The Kentucky Council on Economic Education Announces the Election of Four New Board Members, Acknowledges Off-Going Board Members at Recent Meeting
Louisville, Kentucky—The Kentucky Council on Economic Education (KCEE) is pleased to announce that Al Cornish, Ken Evancic, Carol LaFever and Dr. Judith Rhoads were elected to its board of directors at the June 5, 2007 board meeting. Maria Hampton, Senior Executive Branch Manager of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis-Louisville Branch, was elected as the new chairperson of KCEE’s board of directors, following outgoing board chairperson Paul Moretti, CFO of Hilliard Lyons. Todd Ziegler, Senior Vice President of National City Bank, became chair-elect while Franklin Farris, partner at KPMG, LLP, was elected treasurer. KCEE acknowledged the following off-going board members: Angela Bullock, Ballard Cassady, Winslow Hale, Billy Harper, Eric Higdon, Ed Mastrean, Charles Mattingly, Andy Meko, Allen Rose, Leisa Speer, and Ray Zavada.

Al Cornish, the vice president of education and development and chief learning officer of Norton Healthcare, brings leadership experience to KCEE’s board. He is responsible for all staff and leadership development, education and training at Norton. Cornish created Norton University, a provider of education, organizational development and training opportunities serving Norton Healthcare. |

Ken Evancic, senior vice president of collections for Citi Cards in Louisville, brings his passion for financial education to the board. His Citi Cards responsibilities include the collections of the Sears portfolio. Evancic began his career as a collector with AT&T Universal Card in Jacksonville, FL. He served in numerous roles including collector, control desk operator, unit manager and operations manager. He also owned and operated Team Spirit Inc., Jacksonville’s largest NFL store, from 1988-1998. |

Carol LaFever, the CEO of Cascade Broadcasting Group, brings her 30 years of broadcasting experience with ABC, O & O’s, Fox, ABC, WB and currently the CW Network affiliates to KCEE’s board. LaFever is the winner of many awards, including Emmy awards and awards for public service broadcasting. LaFever oversees the broadcast group for Cascade, including WBKI (the CW Network) in Louisville and the LouNet, a new community-access station originally owned by the African American Venture Capital Fund. |

Dr. Judith Rhoads, president of Madisonville Community and Technical College since 1998, has over 30 years of administrative and faculty leadership experience in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. Rhoads has a demonstrated team-building leadership style in higher education, and brings that passion to KCEE’s board. She has been recognized and selected by local, statewide, and national groups and organizations for leadership. Rhoads is a graduate of Murray State University (B. S., Home Economics), Austin Peay State University (M. A., Counseling/Psychology), and Peabody College, Vanderbilt University (Ed. D., Human Resource Development). |
