The Lava Road - 2009

 

 Coming down Chain of Craters
Road to south coast.

Note steam on horizon.

 

 Warms up getting down near sea level.

 

 They won't let you drive further, so I walk.

 

 Something blocking the road.

 

 Wow, solid rock!

 Follow a trail across the lava.

this is miles wide.
Return to car.

Have to go in from
east side south of Hilo.
