Just recently we had a wilderness
survival camping trip. It was very interesting, due to the fact that it was
something our troop has never done. The younger scouts learned the basic
methods of Wilderness Survival for a few weeks leading up to the camping trip.
They were given a list of things to bring and things not to bring, and the only
thing they had to eat on the Saturday night of the trip was a potato. We gave
them a small compass course, which led them to there camping sites. Once they
got there they had to build there own shelter using the wilderness. All the
guys did great and built good shelters. All of them earned the merit badge.
Overall it was a very fun and interesting camping trip, and we are looking
forward to doing another
in the future.
