Friendship 2003
The traditional Friendship trip was as always, an overall
good time, although this WAS as my first time going. The ride to and from was
very luxurious in the church bus, especially because everyone had their own
seat.
The first morning we awoke to the peaceful sounds of the gunfire, and the
excitement of the crazy rednecks dressed as pioneers. We were very excited as
well, and couldn't wait to go into town and look at the priceless objects and
eat "state fair" food. All of us walked many miles that day, up and
down the rows of tents and motor homes. The adults spent alot of the time under
the dining fly talking about Todd's new roommate Keneth (said with a lisp).
That night, although very tired from the walking, the older boys played a friendly
(competitive) game of football with the other troop led by Nick Volk, aka The
Blob. The game went on till it was pitch dark in the playing field, and even
thogh we lost, i thought we were still the better team (mainly because we were
winning 7-5 and then decided that "next point wins") but oh
well.
Later that night while Todd, Hank, and I were sitting at the fire we were
disturbed by a redneck who drove his truck into the middle of the field and
tried to light a fire with nothing but gasoline. I say he was burning dead
bodies but others may say he was just a drunk guy that didnt know how to camp.
The last day was a little rainy, but we still managed look around the town for
a few hours before we packed up and left. As I said the trip was a good time,
and there will be many more to come.
