Bloggage, rants, and occasional notes of despair |
More about the "infected" part than the "spam". However...
There have been a couple of apparent "Klez" infections in the blogosphere recently; Natalie Solent and Dawson report them; Dan Hartung identifies it "Klez".
For the practice of "safe hex":
- Do not run or open unexpected executables, even from known sources, in e-mail.
- Do not thoughtlessly download executables, especially "warez" or hacks purporting to give access to commercial programs (if you do, and get malware that does a low-level format on your hard drive, tough).
- Do get anti-virus software, know what features it has and doesn't have, and what you want it to do and not do.
- Do not assume that this is the Final Word on defeating viruses, or that I'm the Anti-Virus God (in fact, I'm definitely not; I'm a disabled, aging, mainframe hacker). Do your own research, from authoritative sources.
