Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your heating and cooling equipment!

Residential

  • Dirt in a system causes many system failures. Change the filters in your air conditioning/heating systems monthly. Replace filters with the same kind and size as original filter. If your filter is not disposable, follow the manufacturer instructions for cleaning.
  • Keep the air conditioning thermostat set at or above 72 degrees. Turning the thermostat down more than that makes the unit run continuously and will freeze up the coil. Most systems are not designed to cool to lower temperatures.
  • Covering your air conditioning unit in the winter isn’t necessary. Air conditioners are manufactured to withstand all possible climate changes. In fact, rain helps keep your unit clean.

Commercial

  • Keep soft serve equipment clean. Soft serve mix build up can wear out parts.
  • Visually check moving parts and o-rings in units. Change parts at the first sign of wear.
  • Have an inline water filter system installed for ice machines. Lime build up in the machine causes low ice production and eventually failure.
  • Keep doors to walk-in and reach-in coolers and freezers tightly closed. Check gaskets for wear and have gaskets replaced when necessary. Even a small gap in the door can raise the temperature inside the cabinet.
  • Keep produce away from the coil inside walk-ins. anything stacked around the coil prevents proper air circulation, which can cause failures.

Before you call us:

  • Check your circuit breakers to see they are not tripped.
  • Check thermostat to insure unit is on and on the correct settings.
  • If the equipment is not working correctly turn the unit off to prevent further damage to the system.
