Yokomen Uchi Shiho Nage

- Fig. 1 shows the start position for the Yokomen Uchi strike.
- In Fig. 2, as Uke's right hand strikes, Nage's steps in with the back foot in front of Uke so that Nage's right hand strikes Uke in the face. In practice Nage just pushes Uke's head back to create the correct dynamic. At the same time Nage's left hand sweeps Uke's striking hand down for the Shiho Nage throw.
- In Fig. 3 Nage is finishing the 1st Irimi step as Nage's head butts Uke and goes under Uke's arm. Nage usually takes a small step because Nage does not continue moving at this point it is easy for Uke to push Nage's head down.
- Fig. 4 shows the end of the 2nd Irimi step. From here Nage can finish the Shiho Nage or change to a different throw.

- Fig. 5 shows the start position.
- In Fig. 6 Nage steps in and strikes Uke in the face or neck. In practice Nage just pushes Uke's shoulder back to create the proper dynamic.
- Fig. 7 shows Nage sweeping down Uke's arm and taking the Shiho Nage grip.

- Fig. 8 shows the end of the 1st Tenkan step with Nage's head going under Uke's arm and butting Uke. It is essential that Nage's body is moving at this point. Nage cannot stand still without Uke pushing Nage's head down.
- Fig. 9 shows the end of the 2nd Tenkan step. At this point Nage can finish the Shiho Nage or change to another throw.
