Kokyu Nage
Kokyu Nage is a very versatile technique with many applications to be explored in appropriate sections.

- Fig. 1 shows the start position.
- In Fig. 2 Nage comes in for the strike but Uke's arm is in the way making the strike dangerous to try.
- In Fig. 3 Nage pulls down Uke's striking arm and strikes Uke in the throat.

- In Fig. 4 Nage's hand that struck Uke's throat drives through pushing Uke's head back as Nage steps in behind Uke into the Ushiro position. At the same time Nage's hand that pulled down Uke's arm grabs Uke's left thigh. In practice this prevents Uke stepping back. In a real situation Nage might want to grab Uke's groin. In practice Uke's complain too much about this.
- In the Ushiro step it is important for Nage's right foot to be as close to Uke's right foot as possible. Touching is good. The light pressure of Nage's leg behind Uke's legs is very destructive of Uke's balance. The touch should be so light that Uke does not notice it. Of course, if the strike to the throat worked well Uke will not notice anything.
- Fig. 5 shows Uke down after Nage does the Tornado Twist and Nage's hips push forward.
