Reference: Ushiro Ryokatatori

Example 1, Ushiro Ryokatatori Shiho Nage Irimi.

Movie of Example 1.

Fig. 1 Start Fig. 2 Step Back Fig. 3 2nd Step

  1. Fig. 1 shows the static start position. Normally this is dynamic but the static demonstration is easier to explain. In this case Uke pulls back on Nage. Nage's right foot steps back and across the front of Uke with Nage's head going under Uke's arms. At the same time Nage grasps Uke's wrists for the Shiho Nage.

  2. Fig. 2 shows the end of the 1st Step. This is easy to do if Nage is stepping as Nage's head goes under the arms. Now Nage's left foot steps forward between Uke and Nage's right leg.

  3. Fig. 3 shows the end of the 2nd step. Nage's head has gone completely under Uke's arms and Nage is well into the Shiho Nage.

Example 2, Ushiro Ryokatatori Shiho Nage Tenkan.

Movie of Example 2.

Fig. 4 Start Fig. 5 Step Around Fig. 6 2nd Step

  1. Fig. 4 shows the static start for clarity of explanation. Normally Uke would be pushing Nage forward when Uke grabs. In this case Nage's right foot steps forward and around in a counterclockwise direction. As Nage's foot steps Nage's head will go under Uke's left arm. Nage's hands take the shiho Nage grip on Uke's left wrist.

  2. Fig. 5 shows the end of Nage's initial step forward and around. Nage continues the Tornado Twist in the same direction and Nage's left leg steps around past the side of Nage's leg away from Uke.

  3. Fig. 6 shows the end of the 2nd step. Nage's head has gone under Uke's arms and Nage is now well into the Shiho Nage.
