Ushiro Ryokatatori Ikkyo

Reference: Ushiro Ryokatatori

This is a way of doing Ushiro Ryokatatori Ikkyo that is different from the standard way. This way is preferred because it is the same as the method for Shiho Nage so there is less to learn. The standard method requires a particular response from Uke that is not always forthcoming. This method does not have that limitation so it is more general.

Example 1, Ushiro Ryokatatori Ikkyo Tenkan Back

This example shows Tenkan with a back step. Irimi can also be done.

Movie of Example 1.

Fig. 1 Static Start Fig. 2 Step In Fig. 3 Head Up

  1. Fig. 1 shows the static start. Once Nage has the basic move this would normally be done dynamically with Uke pulling Nage back. It is shown static here for clarity.

  2. In Fig. 2 Nage steps back across the front of Uke and ducks under Uke's arms. At this point Nage should protect from being kneed.

  3. Fig. 3 shows Nage's head coming up outside Uke's arms.

  4. In Fig. 4 Nage has taken the 1st Tenkan Step.

  5. In Fig. 5 Nage has taken the 2nd Tenkan Step.

  6. Fig. 6 shows the end of the Tornado Twist.
