2010-11 Professional Development Opportunities

The Kentucky Council and its Centers offer training for teachers through professional development offerings, approved by the Kentucky Department of Education.  These professional development workshops focus on KCEE curricula that have been aligned with the Core Content and can guide teachers as they integrate economics, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy into subjects like, social studies, math, arts and humanities, practical living, language arts, science, business, and economics. 

Registration is required for ALL workshops! All workshops are FREE unless otherwise indicated.
Workshops are offered by KCEE, Centers for Economic Education, and partnering organizations.

Program Goal - To help middle and high school social studies and science teachers better understand environmental economics issues and to help them relate these issues to their students.
Participant Costs: - Round trip transportation to and from meeting site.
Scholarships - The Foundation for Teaching Economics will cover all costs for all lodging, registration, materials, field trip / field trip transportation and most meals. A $100 expense honoraria will be paid if lodging is not needed.

FREE!  Learning, Earning and Investing workshop offered by EKU Center for Economic Education
@ EKU's south campus, Perkins Building, Richmond, KY
Advanced registration is required prior to Sept. 17.  Refundable $10 registration fee required on registration.
This workshop will introduce you to investing concepts and resources you can use to teach your students about investing and the Stock Market Game (Grades 6-12)
  • Receive free curriculum
  • Receive 3 free student teams for Fall or Spring Stock Market Game or 1 free teacher team for Fall
  • Receive PD certificate for 5 hours of PD
  • Have opportunity to earn an additional hour of PD by participating in online follow-up activity
