KCEE Delivers a High Rate of Return on Investments

The Kentucky Council on Economic Education (KCEE) and its network of university-based Centers, staffed by faculty and experienced economic educators, have touched the lives of more than 1,000,000 students since we began in 1974. We deliver an ROI (Return on Investment) that is exponential as every teacher we reach impacts 30 to 300 students each and every year.

According to a recent Time magazine study, building teacher confidence and competence has more impact on student achievement per dollar spent than textbooks, smaller classes, and supplemental resources.

KCEE is a recognized leader and go-to organization for economics and personal finance throughout the state. Our partners in primary, secondary and higher education, the business community and other nonprofits help us leverage our resources and increase our impact on students of all ages throughout Kentucky. And KCEE accomplishes all of this with a very small staff and no public funding from state or local governments.

KCEE believes it can have a major impact on the lives and futures of Kentucky students by integrating personal finance and economics into existing courses, from English to algebra, and providing the training, resources and tools teachers need.

KCEE is the only nonprofit organization in the state championing the importance and value of economic education through teacher development. The impact of KCEE’s work is magnified by its focus on preparing teachers to be economic advocates their entire careers.

KCEE is doing the work to address financial illiteracy at every educational level from pre-school to college and in every corner of the state. We understand that teaching economics and personal finance will not solve all of the challenges that the state educational system and students face, but helping teachers integrate economics into already existing courses is the best way we know to have an impact.

Planting the Seeds of Economic and Financial Literacy

We CAN accomplish our vision of empowering all Kentuckians with economic and financial literacy for a stronger competitive Kentucky WITH your financial support. This is not about charity, but about making a commitment to our youth—our future workforce and leaders.

We ask you to make a 2008 financial investment in KCEE.  We commit to you to do our part to put those dollars to work to plant the seed of economic and financial literacy in the hearts of teachers and the minds of young people.

                                  Sincerely,

                                  Jan Mester, President
