Leonard Thomas

Cliphance author

Cliphance version 1.0 was produced in its entirety; code, help, documentation, and this web site by one self taught hobbyist programmer, Leonard Thomas. Living at the 6,000 foot elevation level in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, Leonard used gasoline powered generators for computer power, brought the groceries in by snowmobile, and melted snow for water.

Living on the knoll in the foreground of the above picture, Leonard earned enough money for groceries, hardware, and software by logging saw logs, posts, and poles with a 1966 pickup truck/skidder. Working full time on Cliphance during the winter months, 3 years and 3,000 hours were required to produce the first working version of the application.

Leonard returned to Delta Junction(100 miles South of Fairbanks), Alaska. Living in a small log cabin with electricity (from a real power line) and telephone (on a real telephone line), Leonard feeds the dogs of professional dog mushers Dean and Patty Seibold while they mush the circuit.
Within the ice coated walls of the log cabin, Leonard added another 1,000 hours of work to produce the first marketable version (1.11) of Cliphance .

Ice chinked cabin

Spraying a couple of hundred gallons of water and flinging snow onto the walls of a log cabin chinks the cabin tight to the frequent 30 to 70 below zero cold spells.

Gold

For many years Leonard worked on small scale gold placer operations. Cleanups produced pans of gold similar to the one shown above.

Leonard worked for Trivalley Corporation at their Richardson, Alaska gold/mineral exploration operations.

Presently, Leonard is residing in Central California seeking an entry level position in the computer software industry.
