Description of Features Table
Features tables are provided for Windows, OS2 Warp, and Macintosh
clipboard utilities.

FOLDERS
A folder is simply a container for storage of clipboard items; categories, capture files, lists, etc.
X = Supports this feature.
Limit number of items
-XX = Folder may contain from one to XX items. When the number of items is exceeded the oldest
item is removed.
Limit size of item
Some applications allow the setting of a size limit for storage of items for each folder others allow
the setting a size limit by profiles of each supplying application: by app profile
Limit age of item
Some applications allow the setting of a limit on the number of days to store each item.
Item exception to limits
Some applications allow exceptions to limit removal. That is, an item may be marked so that the
above imposed removal limitations do not apply.
Folders within folders
Some applications allow a folder to contain folders of items.
Permanent storage
X = The folder stores items to permanent storage for use in later session.
Temporary storage
X = The folder stores items temporarily and will not be available for later sessions.
ITEM
An item is simply some data which is suitable to transfer through the operating system clipboard.

Information
Each item may include information as to the Date/time when the item was stored by the
clipboard utility, the Size of the stored item, or the name of the application which supplied
the item, App name
Nickname item
Some applications allow each stored item to be given a name under which to list the item.
Thumbnail view
Some applications produce a thumbnail of graphics items under which to display the item.
Multiple formats
Some applications provide for multiple formats for each item stored by profiles for each supplying
application, by app profile.
OLE data objects
Object linking and embedding aware applications may transfer data through OLE clipboard operations.
Plug-ins for formats
Some applications provide for extension of the support for future or unsupported private clipboard
formats through dll modules or plug-in modules.
SELECT FOLDER FOR ITEM
X = Supports this feature.
When an item is stored, selecting the folder in which to store the item may be done
by Manually selecting the folder from a list.
by assigning a Hot key to press during the copy/store operation.
by specific conditions of each Folder profile.
by specific conditions for each supplying application, App profile.
REORDER ITEMS
X = Supports this feature.
When items are stored in a folder some applications provide for altering the order in which the items
will be listed or displayed. Reordering may be done from lists by Manually selecting
or by mouse Drag and drop.
Some applications provide for automatic sorting, Sort by, by the Date stored,
by the clipboard Format, or Alphabetical order for text.
USER NOTIFICATION
Some indication that the application is storing clipboard activity or supplying clipboard items may be
enabled.

Item stored
On storing a clipboard item, the application may sound a Beep or play a
Sound event or change the Cursor or alter its Toolbar in a
noticeable manner.
Item paste
On supplying a clipboard item, the application may sound a Beep or play a
Sound event.
SELECT FOR PASTE
Several methods of selection of items for copying to the clipboard for paste are available.

Window list
A window is displayed with a list of stored items.
Menu list
A drop down menu is displayed with a list of stored items.
Dialog list
A dialog box is displayed with a list of stored items.
Thumbnail window
Thumbnails of items are displayed in a window.
Viewer windows
A viewer window for each item is displayed.
Buffer icon
An icon for each available item is displayed in a window.
PASTE MULTIPLE FORMATS
Some applications allow storing and retrieving multiple formats for one clipboard item.

ITEM PASTE BY HOT KEY
Some applications allow for the definition of a system wide hot key for paste of a specific stored item.

CONSECUTIVE PASTE ORDER BY
X = Supports this feature.
Applications which provide for the consecutive paste of more than one stored item allow for selection
of the items for paste manually from a List box or by Drag and drop from a list or by
Selection of viewer windows.
ON PASTE ADD

When the item is copied to the clipboard, some applications provide for adding to the item a
Tab, a Line feed, an Enter or a Date/time stamp.
KEYBOARD EMULATION
X = Supports this feature.
Paste key in app
Upon selection of an item for paste, some applications may pass keyboard equivalent commands
to an application.
Display list on app paste
An application may trap the paste key to display a list of items to choose an item for copy to the
clipboard.
APPEND TEXT
Some applications provide for text append operations which add a text clipboard item to another.

Add
Some applications provide for adding a Line feed, a Tab, a Space,
or a Character between each appended item.
Update clipboard
Some applications automatically copy the item to which each clipboard item is appended to the
clipboard for paste or another append operation, a cumulative operation.
Select items for append
Previously stored items may be appended into one item by manual selection from list,
or by drag and drop from a list, or by folder, all items in the folder.
TEXT ALTERATIONS
X = Supports this feature.
Some applications provide for altering text items: Case conversion of lower, upper, and
proper capitalization, or Remove line feeds, or Add space start of line, or
Remove first character line, or Add date/time stamp, or converting ..\ to /,
backslash to forward for Unix style.
SEARCH FOR TEXT
Some applications provide for searching text items for a text string.

LOAD FILES TO ITEM
X = Supports this feature.
Some applications provide for converting a clp, or Text, or Non-text
(graphics) file into a clipboard item for later copy to the clipboard.
Append
Some applications provide for adding the contents of a text file to a stored text item.
SAVE ITEM AS FILE
X = Supports this feature.
Some applications provide for saving a stored clipboard item as a clp, or Text, or
Non-text, graphics file.
Append
Some applications provide for adding a stored text clipboard item to an existing file.
NICKNAME FILES
Some applications provide for selecting and naming of existing files to treat the file as a clipboard item.

EDIT TEXT

Some applications provide text editors, some of which limit the size of the text item to edit,
Size limit and some of which allow editing the item as hex.
EDIT RICH TEXT FORMAT
Some applications provide for editing in rich text format which includes font, underlining, etc.

PRINT

Some applications provide for printing of Text, Graphics, or Thumbnails.
VIEW ITEM

Some applications provide for viewing in a window Text, as Hex,
Standard graphics (bmp, dib, wmf), or tif, gif, tga, pcx, eps formats.
RUN SUPPLYING APP FOR EDIT
The application from which the clipboard item was supplied may be run for editing the item.

OLE DRAG AND DROP TO APP
The application will act as a drag and drop source for target applications.
